THE ARTIST BEHIND THE WORK

About Cassie

I’m Cassie Bayer, a fine-art photographer and portrait artist based in North Augusta, South Carolina. My work is rooted in the belief that the bond we share with our pets deserves to be preserved thoughtfully — not just documented, but honored.

I create both fine-art pet photography and commissioned custom pet portraits, each designed to serve a different purpose and season of life. Whether capturing your pet as they are today or creating a timeless portrait to remember them always, my goal is to create artwork that feels personal, meaningful, and lasting.

My Approach

My background in photography, digital art, and fine-art techniques allows me to approach each project with intention and care. I combine modern tools with traditional artistic decision-making, refining each piece by hand to ensure it reflects not only your pet’s likeness, but their presence and personality.

I believe great artwork comes from patience, collaboration, and respect — for the subject, for the process, and for the memories entrusted to me.

Photography & Portraiture

I offer two distinct ways to celebrate your pet:

Pet Photography Sessions focus on creating expressive, authentic photographs that result in a curated gallery of images to enjoy digitally or as finished artwork.

Custom Pet Portraits are commissioned works of fine art, created exclusively on canvas and artistically interpreted into painterly portraits designed as statement pieces.

Some clients choose one; others choose both.

A Personal Perspective

My appreciation for memorial portraits is deeply personal. I created a portrait of our dog Freckles many years ago, before I began working professionally in photography and digital art. That experience shaped how I approach this work today and reinforced the importance of creating something lasting when time or opportunity has passed.

This perspective guides my approach with sensitivity, especially when working with clients who wish to honor a pet who is no longer with them.

Experience & Community

I’ve lived in the North Augusta area for over 30 years and am deeply involved in the local arts community. I currently serve as a volunteer and member of the Board of Directors for the Arts & Heritage Center of North Augusta, and I teach Business Math and Horticulture at Helms College in Augusta, Georgia.

My work has been exhibited locally at venues including the Arts & Heritage Center of North Augusta and the North Augusta Chamber of Commerce. I have been featured as a North Augusta Artists Guild Featured Artist and have received recognition in regional competitions, including finalist honors in the Augusta Photography Festival.

I am a member of the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and the Carolina Nature Photographers Association, as well as their Georgia and South Carolina affiliates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Many clients ask about the difference between pet photography sessions and custom pet portraits.

Pet photography sessions focus on creating professional photographs of your pet, resulting in a gallery of images that can be enjoyed digitally or as finished artwork.

Custom pet portraits are commissioned works of fine art. They begin with a photograph and are artistically reinterpreted into a painterly portrait created exclusively on canvas.
